This cigar box Christmas gift wrap is the perfect way to change up your holiday wrapping! Giving gifts is one of the funnest things we get to do each December, and presenting my friends, neighbors, and families with beautiful ones is important to me. It shows that I put a lot of time and effort into their present. This is one of my favorite gift wrapping options! I purchase a giant stack of cigar boxes from tobacco stores to use instead of the more traditional cardboard boxes or decorative bags. The boxes are stunningly crafted and full of details, and most shops are happy to get rid of them and give them away for free or sell them for a $1 a box! I decorate the boxes with paint, small wreaths, or just some lovely ribbon. They’re the perfect size for gifting cookies or ornaments, and look so expensive and prove that you put a lot of time and thought into the gift.
- Cigar Boxes
- Chalk Paint (I used Folk Art’s Home Interior brand)
- Paint Brushes
- Decorative Scrapbook or Tissue Paper
- Glue or Modge Podge
- Decorative Add Ons (like glitter, scrapbook metal details, etc)
Paint your cigar boxes and let them dry. Luckily, chalk paint doesn’t take long to dry, so you can do this then grab a snack! I’d also recommend leaving your boxes open and outside for a day to remove that tobacco smell!
Line the inside of the box with your decorative scrapbook or tissue paper. Lots of cigar boxes have brand images on the inside that you’ll definitely want to hide. This makes the boxes even more beautiful when they’re opened up and covers up any painting mistakes you might have made.
Decorate! Add whatever you’ve got on hand to your boxes! I covered mine with paper snowflakes, metal ornaments, a gingerbread cookie, and even a small wreath made of fresh greens. The sky’s the limit!
